Background[]
Born and raised on Titan, one of Saturn's moons, Thanos became obsessed with Lady Death and thus a warlord bent on mass murder, as a gift to her.
Thanos allied with the Chitauri to start the Galactic War, a war he would lose after Gamora defected and raided Chitauri Prime. Drax would eventually track down and defeat Thanos. It is generally accepted that Thanos was killed in this battle, as no sign of his activity has been observed in the following twelve years. However, Drax does not believe Thanos is actually dead.
Personality[]
Thanos was often seen by galactic civilization as the embodiment of pure evil the ultimate symbol of megalomania cruelty and destruction. Whilst most of this description is accurate, Thanos himself is a slightly more complex being then most know as he seemed to on some level care for his adopted daughter Gamora though he did not show the same affections towards her sister Nebula. However in spite of this affection Thanos was still a cruel and unforgiving father and mentor demonstrated by him burning dolls he had previously gifted to Gamora and Nebula to teach them a lesson in attachment implying that Thanos had a very detached mindset for most things save his own hunger for power.
Outwardly Thanos presented himself as a benevolent misunderstood messianic figure who wished to balance the universe by way of exterminating half of all life. In truth Thanos did not seek universal balance of any sort as he was motivated in truth by his obsessive love for Lady Death. This infatuation led Thanos to become extraordinarily sadistic with omnicidal tendencies as he would murder half the populace of every planet he conquered and even sparked the Galactic war in an attempt to wipe out all life in the galaxy a good example of his sadism was sparing the life’s of a kathaian squad after defeating them in order to crush their resolve. For unexplained reasons Thanos developed an intense hatred for Drax the destroyer as Drax himself said that in their last battle their resolve to see the other dead was equal .
Gameplay[]
An illusion of Thanos appears as an enemy in Chapter 11: Mind Over Matter, when the Guardians and Adam Warlock enter Drax's mind to help him overcome the Matriarch's influence. To their surprise, the fight is easier than expected, but as soon as Thanos is defeated, he duplicates and the fight begins anew. The trick is to let Thanos "win".
The trophy "Titanslayer" is related to this battle.
Records[]
Born on Saturn's moon, Titan, this genocidal warlord struck fear into the hearts of people across the entire galaxy. His goal was to wipe out vast swaths of life to court a Goddess of Death and to burn whatever necessary in his pursuit of impossible power. Even before the Galactic War, Thanos' onslaught left countless planets barren, the few survivors abducted to become soldiers or servants in his own relentless army. His legacy of cruelty was unmatched and his alliance with the Chitauri during the Galactic War only made it worse. For many, Thanos was godlike. Invincible.
That is, until Drax the Destroyer, a lone Katathian twisted by a vengeful blood rage, hunted him down and finally killed him. To this day, Nova Corps is still tracking, trying, and sentencing the remainder of the Mad Titan's army, but Drax swears he is still alive. If Thanos were to ever reemerge, we can count on a wave of slaughter to announce his return.
