Taneleer Tivan, also known as The Collector, is a supporting character in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. Allegedly one of the Elders of the Universe, Tivan is a preserver, or rather, a collector of oddities. He runs a famous emporium of curiosities on Knowhere.
Background[]
Once he "owned" the creature known as Groot, after he saved him from near death. Groot then was stolen by Rocket by chance. A piece of Groot is still in his possession and he hopes to grow a full creature from it.
Gameplay[]
Tivan himself doesn't appear, but players can see a holographic projection of him on top of Collector's Emporium's entrance and an interactive one in the gift shop. Peter Quill can visit the exhibition in Chapter 6: Between a Rock and a Hard Place.
Regarding items, the Collector's Emporium Ticket and Collector's Emporium Doll are associated to his museum, as well as Groot's Cold Case File. He is also mentioned in the Reply: Missing Persons Report archive.
Records[]
The Collector (Taneleer Tivan) claims he is an Elder of the Universe, a powerful, ancient race that guided all creation, each one focused on a specific aspect of reality. In the Collector's case, he is a preserver. His Emporium serves not only to safeguard his precious collection, but to give people a chance to see exceptional rarities, world-altering artifacts, and unique creatures. Tivan obsesses with discovering the last of a kind, eager to keep his prizes safe against a chaotic, potentially doomed galaxy. Or so he says.... some believe his task has become a dangerous addiction.
The Collector's Emporium is currently docked in the Knowhere Market. Some believe Tivan keep tabs on the drifting Celestial head, trying to find a way to claim it for his collection before it is inevitably pulled into the Rift.

Trivia[]
- While designing the Collector's Emporium as a travelling menagerie, Nicolas Lizotte settled on a shape that was sympathetic to the exuberant hair he was testing on Tivan.[2]
