Spinal control units are items in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. An experimental technological device from Halfworld, they were used as part of their hybrid program. It is a Collectible item.

It can be found in Chapter 1: A Risky Gamble, in the area where Peter Quill tumbles down with a few pipes and must fight some of the Moniscobule monsters. By moving up again and jumping on the strange metal platforms, there is a platform with more brittle material. The control unit is under these. Peter will take it back to the Milano, where he can talk more about it with Rocket. After the conversation, its Galactic Compendium entry is unlocked.

Kree experimental weapon engineers crafted the spinal control unit on Halfworld to command and control the local animal population, transforming them into killing machines. An extensive series of genetic manipulations, augmented limbs, and neurosurgery turned the wild animals into living weapons, but the control cage primarily reinforced the defiance/punishment response with an extremely painful shock right to the nervous system. In the case of a completely defiant test subject, operators could take full control of the subject and pilot them manually. The unit is also equipped with an implosion bomb to remove all traces of evidence and technology, should the subject be caught.

- The spinal control unit could be inspired by the Spine of Complicity, which has appeared in Annihilation: Super-Skrull #3 (2006).
