Players can meet some of the priests in Chapter 6: Between a Rock and a Hard Place (Knowhere) and Chapter 10: Test of Faith (Lamentis). They seem to accompany Mantis, who the Priests have titled as the 'Celestial Madonna'. On Knowhere, the Priests quickly try to move Mantis away from the unsafe streets, but not before she can in some way "bond" telepathically with Drax.

Originally from Hala, the Priests of Pama are a sect of Kree pacifists who found themselves persecuted by their own kind. To defend themselves, they studied forbidden martial arts and mystic meditation rituals, sharpening both mind and body. This drew the attention of another Halasian race in hiding--the plantlike Cotati. The Cotati offered to teach their new friends how to hone their psychic abilities in exchange for protection. The Kree Supreme Intelligence discovered their alliance and banished both groups. It was a bloody exodus.
The Priests of Pama now manage a Cotati refuge on Lamentis, where they nurture and protect the endangered plant race. The Priests believe that the Cotati, as well as Mantis, their "Celestial Madonna," will eventually produce a Celestial Messiah who will usher in peace to the entire galaxy.
