An Outfit is an special item in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. It is a cosmetic that changes a character's appearance once equipped. Wearing an Outfit does not affect combat or the Guardian's abilities in any way.
Overview[]
For players who want to change the characters' look, the Guardians have an extensive wardrobe. One can unlock more than 40 alternate costumes—inspired by the comics, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and more—while playing the game. Accessed through the main menu, each Outfit comes with information about where it originated, such as comics issue number, writer, artists and more.[1]
If a player finds and manually equips all available Outfits, they receive the trophy "Fashion Passion". Another related trophy is "Like a Glove!", earned when players find and equip their first Outfit. Unlocked Outfits carry over to a New Game Plus.[2]
Pre-ordering the game early unlocks a Throwback Guardians Outfit Pack,[3] which encompasses Peter's Team-Lord, Gamora's Black Vortex, Drax's Thanos Imperative, Rocket's The Stinger and Groot's Impaler outfits,[4] and makes them available to equip right after starting Chapter 1: A Risky Gamble. Meanwhile, the Deluxe Edition of the game—both the physical and digital versions—come with Peter's City-Lord and Sun-Lord outfits unlocked early. In normal editions of the game, these (and other three) Outfits for Peter unlock upon completion of the game, i.e. upon finishing Chapter 16: Magus. Following the separation with Square Enix, Square Enix Members services will be removed on February 21, 2023, thus making the early unlock functionality of the War-Lord unavailable (players will still be able to find it by exploring Chapter 13: Against All Odds, however).[5]
While Peter has thirteen different Outfits, everyone else has only eight each. They all have in common the following outfits: Standard Outfit, Nova Corps, Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Five Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and Golden Guardians. The remaining costumes—six for Star-Lord, three for the others—are unique and based on their comics counterparts. Finally, Peter's additional costumes, Bad-Lord and City-Lord, are original designs for the game.
