A power termination lock is a major item in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. These devices are installed by Nova Corps to force offenders to pay their fines, and will shut a ship down and send a signal to Worldmind.

At the end of Chapter 2: Busted, after the crew is caught near the restricted Quarantine Zone, a Nova Force lock is installed to the Milano, on top of Peter's console.
In Chapter 6: Between a Rock and a Hard Place, Peter can purchase a Nova Force Lock Disabler from a vendor in Knowhere, but this item will not work. Peter must, inevitably, chose to pay the fine or not in Chapter 9: Desperate Times.

Known to pirates and raiders as a Nova Corps "disabler" and/or "tracker," the 7A-13 is a timed power termination lock used as encouragement to pay fines before their deadline. If the countdown expires or someone tampers with the lock, a surge of Nova Force energy will fry the ship's navigation system and send a tracking signal to the Worldmind. Fortunately, it will not impact life support systems.
