Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Wiki

The Milano is a starship and major location in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. It is a rare M-Class Ravager scout vessel, owned by Peter Quill, that serves as homebase to the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Characteristics[]

A small vessel with its hull painted blue and orange, the Milano's layout encompasses a flight deck, a common area, quarters for a crew of four, a bathroom, two rooms dedicated to the ship's engine and systems, a storage room, and a cargo bay where its airlock is located. It has engine parts from at least five different black markets, and although its weapons could use an overhaul, it is capable of downing much larger vessels.

Community room

The flight deck has five swivel seats and its viewport serves as a comm display. Only the Captain's chair can steer the Milano, while the crew stations are equipped with tactile screens: Gamora's is connected to the ship's navigation, Groot's oversees communications, and Rocket's is that of tactical and weapons systems.[2] Via stairs the flight deck is connected to the common area. A roughly circular room with two portholes, in its center is a Display Table with yellow-cushioned seating to its sides. There are some hanging potted plants for Groot to water, and a terminal portside to play Peter's Terran music all over the ship.

Aft this area is C-shaped wall with a small kitchen, a fridge (its door is broken and constantly open), and Rocket's Workbench; directly behind, from starboard to port, are a small systems room, the crew's quarters separated by stairs leading down to the cargo bay, and the bathroom with a Moggrabac Shower and Toilet Set, all with bulkhead doors—red indicates they are sealed, green otherwise.

Magus Chapter 8

Peter in his quarters at the end of Chapter 16.

Quarters are all equipped with a bed, a mirror and a dresser, and the doors are labeled with the Guardians' names. Rocket's darkly-lit room (his door also labeled with "Not a Raccoon!") is full of tech to tinker with and volatile components, using his bed as "soft" shelf; instead he sleeps in a hammock directly above it. He has a chair, as well as a number of screens and schematics blocking where the mirror should be. Next to it is Peter's room; it is messy, decorated with several posters on the walls—one of which depicts Dazzler—and objects from Earth, such as old electronics, a shaving kit, a Star-Lord coffee mug, and a beanbag. He also has a blue box with Business Cards, a dark grey trunk, and a Hoverboard. His bed has yellow and black linen, and pictures are stuck on the wall to its right (a photo of himself and Meredith, another with the Guardians, and a postcard).

Gamora's room is tidy and decorated with translucent purple curtains, covering the lights, and white tapestry. Her mirror is covered with an amethyst-colored drape; next to it is a weapons display, some books, and a potted plant. Over her bed, which has violet linen and two additional pillows, is The Art of War. At its feet is a pouffe and a rack for her body armor, and to its left a small table that normally has her doll collection neatly arranged. Next to her quarters is Drax's room, sparely furnished with a Ujukkyma Skull on the wall, a Punching Bag, a dark-red trunk, and Katathian décor. They are a rug, a mantle, a portrait (of himself, Hovat and Kamaria), tapestry, and knives. On his drawer is a mug, while on his bed with yellow and brown-striped linen is the book Sarcasm for Dummies. His mirror is broken—the shards scattered across the floor—and the wall has numerous dents, presumably from punches.

The cargo bay, which has the airlock through which people can enter and exit the ship, is connected to the engine room, which has server-like hardware and a screen showing the Milano's current overall status, and the storage room, which serves as Groot's quarters. It has Tempcon Storage Pods and is filled to the brim with numerous plants that Groot has picked up from their travels.

Gameplay[]

The Milano functions as both the Guardians' ride and their home base, giving the player some downtime between most story chapters. During these moments, Peter Quill can choose to talk with the other Guardians here, or proceed with main scenario objectives. He can also have Rocket craft Perks for his equipment at the Workbench in the community area.

In Chapter 2: Busted, a Nova Force Lock is installed onto the Milano after the crew gets a fine of 7,000/8,000/9,000 (depending on the choice what Drax should hide) due to their illegal actions in the Quarantine Zone. They must pay this fine in three cycles or the ship's controls will be shut down. It is Chapter 9: Desperate Times that the player can finally choose to pay it, with consequences during the final battle in the Alpha Herculis system.

Space combat

The Milano in space combat.

During Chapter 1: A Risky Gamble, the player gets the opportunity to escape the Quarantine Zone by directly piloting the Milano. Later on, in Chapter 9, a section of space combat against Captain Glory must be completed. During the battle, the player must dodge and roll to move away from the enemy's shots and space debris, while destroying the Lethal Legion. If Peter chooses to "Hide the tech" option in Chapter 2, the Milano will have some improvements in armament.

Regarding items, the archive Team Costumes can be picked up in Rocket's quarters since Chapter 1. For Collectible items, they will show up in the room of their intended Guardian upon picking them up while exploring. Peter must start the conversations on the Milano for their entries in the Galactic Compendium to unlock.

Records[]

THE MILANO

Formerly a fighter in the Ravager's pirate fleet, the Milano has seen her share of combat and has been impounded numerous times for various charges. She's a warp-capable M-Class ship, with impressive scouting speed and a modified arsenal capable of downing much larger vessels. Nova Corps records show the Milano's involvement in the Galactic War, though the details have mostly been redacted. During those cycles, her repair records had listed her irreparably damaged on three different occasions. Apparently, her pilot refuses to give up on her. Updated records have registered the Milano to the Gardeners of the Galaxy.

All Ravager vessels follow the same designation pattern—naming the vessel after a wife or lover. We can assume the Milano is named for the current pilot's past love interest. Who was this "Milano?" Was she a pirate as well?

Trivia[]

  • The ship is named after American actress Alyssa Milano.
  • The shower usually isn't interactive. This option only comes up in Chapter 9: Desperate Times, when the objective "Relax in your quarters" comes up. Players then can witness the recreation of a scene from Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
  • A little running gag is the use of Peter's toothbrush by other crew members. Peter can pick his brush up after he has caught all the others messing with it, but he will quickly throw it in trash can with some disgust.
