The Mantane are creatures in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. They are a flying species presumed native to Seknarf Nine.

Mantane are airborne predatory beasts that were nearly hunted to extinction for their pliable hides and the delicious egg clusters they carry upon their backs. Mantane caviar is one of the most frequently smuggled goods in the galaxy. However, they are not easy prey. What would appear to be fangs near the front of their skulls are venomous stingers, unrelated to their mouths. A deep sting from the female of this species causes excruciating pain, if not death. The male sting causes mild irritation. Unfortunately, there is no way to identify which is which without a lab analysis, since all mantane produce and carry eggs.
The mantane are thriving once again on Seknarf Nine thanks to the Monster Queen's preservation efforts.
