Malik Tarcel is a minor character in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. Tarcel is a former diplomat to the Shi'ar Empire and a Centurion in the Nova Corps at the time of the Galactic War.
Background[]
Malik Tarcel rose through the ranks of the Nova Corps and eventually became a diplomat to Chandilar, home of the Shi'ar Empire.
After the Kree Empire was dismantled in the Galactic War, he persuaded Majestrix Lilandra into expanding the Empire, but an agent of Thanos attempted to assassinate the two. Tarcel died because of this and Lilandra rejected the alliance between the Shi'ar and the Nova Corps. Malik Tarcel was posthumously rewarded the Blue Star and the Galactic Medal of Valor.

BACKGROUND: Centurion Malik Tarcel was an accomplished diplomat assigned to Chandilar, the Throneworld of the Shi'ar Empire.
After the collapse of the Kree Empire during the Galactic War, Tarcel was able to broker a tenuous alliance with the Majestrix Lilandra, who saw an opportunity to expand her empire. Shortly after, an agent of Thanos attempted to assassinate both Tarcel and Lilandra.
Tarcel didn't survive the encounter. Afterward, the Majestrix rejected the alliance.
NOTES: A memorial has been erected on New Xandar, commemorating those who sacrificed their lives for the greater good of the galaxy.
