Malador is a mentioned-only location in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy notable for being the origin of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Story[]
Around 7800, almost a year before their mission to Mercury, Peter Quill was on Malador when Rocket and Groot took on the job to turn Peter in and claim the bounty that Yondu Udonta had put on his head.[1] During the incident, Peter could not outrun Groot[2] and Rocket had him at point-blank range.[1] Somehow he convinced them to start a business enterprise together, to be called the Guardians of the Galaxy,[2] and promised to pay them double Yondu's bounty in time. Privately, Rocket would consider the Milano as collateral to their deal.[1]
Gameplay[]
In Chapter 3: The Cost of Freedom, Malador is mentioned after the Guardians are fined by Ko-Rel for tresspassing in the restricted Quarantine Zone as one of the reasons Rocket should be charging Peter, being one of many times he and Groot saved him.
Trivia[]
- In the comics, Malador is a harsh pioneer planet where Kree rebels and malcontents carve new lives out of the hostile terrain and climate. Likely located in the Greater Magellanic Cloud, it is implied to be an icy planet. Whether it applies to this continuity is unknown.
