28-T Deep Dredgers, more commonly referred to as Inquisitors, are robots in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. Originally, they were deep space mining robots, but were repurposed into military forces for the Universal Church of Truth and bodyguards for Grand Unifier Raker.
Background[]
The Inquisitors were once remote mining and construction machines employed by the colony that would first be converted by Raker and Adam Warlock into the Universal Church of Truth. After Warlock's apostasy, the robots were modified into powerful killing machines fueled by faith energy used to guard the Sacrosanct and Raker himself.

Gameplay[]
Players can spot them the first time in Chapter 2: Busted while the arrested Guardians follow Nikki. When Raker comes out from his ship, two Inquisitors are standing passively in the background inside the ship, covered by their veils. They become opponents in Chapter 7: Canine Confusion, Chapter 8: The Matriarch, Chapter 12: Knowhere To Run, and Chapter 14: Into The Fire. Of special note are the first Inquisitor introduced in chapter 8 (who fights the Guardians alone as the chapter's final opponent) and the dozens of Inquisitors that the Guardians face at the end of Chapter 14 (who, depending on your encounter with the Worldmind, either respawn endlessly or have next to no HP).
Inquisitors have more health than just about any non-boss enemy with two full health bars and heavy resistance to the attacks of the non-playable Guardians, though Peter Quill's blasters are as effective as ever. Their only particular vulnerability is the plasma blast from Peter's Element Guns. In terms of attacks, they can fire a powerful red laser from their central eye that does massive damage, smack anyone with their massive robotic arms, fire their arms into the ground and cause them to erupt up to twenty feet away, and they can even grab one of the Guardians and prevent them from battling until the Inquisitor is stunned. The game recommends focusing on building the Inquisitor's stun meter and only when its stunned to start dealing serious damage.
Inquisitor #04684 is subject of archive, Notice: Malfunction, written by Fyor. It lies on the ground for Peter Quill to steal its still functional faith battery during Chapter 8: The Matriarch.
Records[]
Formerly known as 28-T Deep Dredgers, the "Inquisitor" machines of the Universal Church of Truth were once deep space mining robots. When the mining ships cored out a large ore sample, the colony would begin to construct their workstations inside. These robots would begin the initial work to ensure the environment was safe enough to move in construction crews.
The robots have since been heavily modified to serve as personal Guards for Grand Unifier Raker. With new hardware and empowered by an unquantifiable energy source, "faith," the Inquisitor's abilities cannot be measured. However, one can assume their previous functions do remain. They have solid, flexible metal bodies and can extend their limbs great distances. Specialized tools that enable them to quickly drill through rock and project cutting lasers make them a formidable foe.

Trivia[]
- The robe for the Inquisitor was designed by Bruno Gauthier-Leblanc, while the robot itself was designed by Nivanh Chantara.[2]
- Inquisitors have no counterpart in comics. However, they might have been inspired by the Church's enforcers, the Black Knights. There is also the title of Grand Inquisitor in the organization.
