Guardians Mode

Guardians Mode is a game mechanic in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, and a tool for players to give orders to Star-Lord's teammates. This works in battle or during level exploration.

Overview

Guardians Mode allows the player to direct the team's interactions with the world. It can be accessed with L1 (PlayStation), LB (Xbox), or ⇧ Shift (PC), both in and out of combat; a wheel with the Guardians' faces will appear, then one selects which character to give orders to.

In combat, it is used to make the Guardians perform special Abilities. While Guardians Mode is active, the player can toggle between enemies with the right stick (PlayStation), ??? (Xbox), or the mouse's scroll wheel (PC). Out of combat, when faced with an interactive obstacle, each Guardian has specialties: Gamora can clear paths and climb walls, Drax can move heavy objects and destroy walls, Rocket can hack computer systems and crawl into small spaces, and Groot can create bridges as well as lift platforms.

Scratched Plating	Manufacturing imperfections in vertical surface detected. Pierce to provide springboard for ascension.
High Tension Wires	Faulty conduction cables. Please remove to lessen threat of shock.
Pneumatic Tubing	Ancient ship messaging system. No longer functional. Removal suggested.
Brittle Material	Recent formation of minerals. Structure not yet solidified.
Frayed Wires	Recently exposed wires. Risk of electrocution minimal.
Icicles	Frozen water. Recent direct sunlight has weakened molecular structure.
Loose Cabling	Faulty cables in need of replacement. Use quick, precision cuts to remove.
Hanging Industrial Stack	Heavy suspended manufactured object. Support line compromised.
Heavy Object	Dense object of exceptional mass. Requires phenomenal strength to move.	Drax
Structural Weakness	Physical vulnerability detected. May be exploited or destroyed with enough force.
Reactor	Reactor unit offline. Hull integrity compromised.
Stone Obelisk	Stone obelisk with religious carvings. Faults detected at base of structure. Integrity may be compromised.
Extendable Cannon Cartridge	Chitauri "death bore" cannon cartridge. Currently retracted. Apply brute force to extend.
Floor Grate/Damaged Grating	Caution: Floor grating has sustained damage. Structural integrity may be compromised.
Security Hatchway	Caution: Hatchway damaged by energy overrun. Integrity may be compromised.
Reactor Grate	Caution: Reactor vent casing moderately damaged. Integrity may be compromised.
Crane Elevation Base	Robust support for single container cranes. Movable for ease of work.
Interior Wall	Caution: Interior vertical surface has sustained high damage. Integrity may be compromised.
Catalytic Converter	Exhaust emission control device used to reduce toxic gas emissions.
Mineral Formation	Unknown mineral material. Faults detected in structure. Integrity may be compromised.
Shipping Container	Massive container used for transport of goods. Unsecured.
Advert Tower	Advertisement Column. Substantial damage detected in upright support.
Residential Roof	Caution: Roof surface has sustained damage. Structural integrity may be compromised.
Mummified Brain Tissue	Desiccated gray matter. Likely to crumble if hit by a powerful thrust.
Stone Surface	Caution: Surface eroded by elements. Integrity may be compromised.
Stone Column	Unstable natural formation. Several structural faults detected near base.
Massive Rock	High density object. Deadly if thrown.
Explosive Tank	High-pressure tank filled with unstable liquid compound. May explode upon impact.
Container	Vessel containing high mass liquid. Lift with your knees.
Mining Thruster	Massive object used in mining operations. Certification necessary for use.
Access Point	Narrow physical access to network for maintenance robots. (Cover panel weak to blaster shots.) / Naturally formed narrow opening.	Rocket

Circuit	Energy conduit controlled through maintenance access point.
Small Fissure	Naturally-formed narrow opening. Tunnels deep into solid rock wall.
Water-Filled Fissure	Small opening created by fast-flowing underground stream. High probability of drowning if entered.
Explosive Vent	Volatile vapor detected. Exercise caution.
Volatile Organic Matter	Chemically volatile organic object. Amplifies exothermic reaction.
Mooring	Stable mooring. Significant weight supported.	Groot
Wild Roots	Rapid growth could create a solid wall of entangled roots.
