The Great Mysteries of Lamentis are strange rock formations within the Caves of Lamentis, which bear resemblance to faces. Five in total, their origin is unknown; there is no evidence of carving tool work, indicating that they may be naturally occurring. Each face has a name of its own, ie. the Silent and the Source.[1]

The five Mysteries appear while the Guardians explore the Caves of Lamentis on their quest to help Drax in Chapter 10: Test of Faith.
During this journey, the Source unleashes the Languishing Fog (which has an entry of its own in the Galactic Compendium) that will conjure up all kinds of monsters for the team to face, including creatures in their likeness.

The Priests of Pama have described Lamentis' "Languishing Fog" in mystical terms, which is not particularly useful for xenobiologists. They say it is alive and that it follows them as they travel the tunnels below the surface They also claim it seeps into the mind and exposes one's inner turmoil or awakens one's inner eyes.
But they seem to be hiding something more sinister. Off-worlders have met with some of the priests who have encountered this fog and found them to be in a near-vegetative state, barely able to utter words and unable to care for themselves. One cotati warned visitors that the fog was a psychic parasite before the priests silenced him.
Is this mysterious vapor a toxic hallucinogen? If it stalks its prey like the priests have described, then surely it is alive.
