An enemy is a non-playable hostile foe that a player must defeat and a common gameplay element in many video games. In Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, they come in clusters making Guardian teamwork a necessity.

Overview[]

Enemies come in many sizes and shapes, but all of them have a visible Health Bar in read above their heads, indicating how much life they have. Some have multiple Health Bars, which are indicated by Health Markers (a small skull icon along with a multiplier) above the gauge. When a bar is depleted, the Marker vanished, revealing the next, and when all Markers are gone, the enemy's last Health Bar appears.[1]

Certain enemies, mostly the larger and more challenging ones, have a Stagger Bar placed below their Health meter. Enemies with a Stagger Bar are more resistant to damage, taking little to none unless it is filled up. When an enemy is staggered, they will be momentarily crippled while their Stagger Bar flickers. At that point, players should unleash the team's Abilities via Guardians Mode. All Guardians have at least one Ability that deals Stagger damage, but Drax is the one who specializes in dealing this type of damage. Using an element that the enemy is weak to can also stagger them.

All enemies can be analyzed via the Visor's Tactical Scan feature, should the optional Perk be crafted. Scanning an enemy provides clues as to how to defeat them; while doing so, time slows down.
