Dugar is an unseen minor character in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. As a member of a Nova Corps, he is Maintenance Chief of The Rock, an important outpost located in the Tayo system.

Background

Of unknown origin, Dugar joined Nova Corps at some point after the Galactic War during the Xandarian reconstruction efforts and the organization's rebuilding by Richard Rider and the Worldmind. As a custodian, Dugar rose to the position of Maintenance Chief in charge of overseeing the repair, installation and upkeep operations of The Rock. Regarding his personal life, Dugar is a married man.

As chief, he would grow increasingly annoyed with non-custodian personnel over incidents such as using Nova Centurion suits to roast Choga dogs, perform stunts in zero-G, or target practice, or getting an elevator service request for the seventh time after reiterated warnings not to jump in it. Following the incident, Dugar sent a formal complaint to the Worldmind so that those responsible would get a scolding. He also got at least four prank service calls a week.

In the present day, 7801, a Quarantine Zone inspection led by the Hala's Hope captain, Ko-Rel, goes awry and results in the resurgence of the Universal Church of Truth, their beliefs spreading like a plague throughout crew of the Hala's Hope and, upon the ship's arrival at the Rock, throughout the outpost itself. Dugar notices fellow Corpsmen talking about a "Matriarch" and a "Promise"; at first, he thinks they are messing with him as usual, but when Centurion Vikar attacks him, he realizes the severity and escapes into the service tunnels. He taps into the comms, hoping to reach management, but finds it filled with Converted chatter. Unable to get a hold of the Worldmind, and reflecting on his desire to divorce his wife, Dugar narrowly escapes notice and patches up an impounded Badoon scout shuttle.

He flees the Rock and docks at Knowhere. He figures it is the safest place to hide from the "brain parasites" due to being so far out and so close to the Rift, besides offering plenty opportunities to do maintenance work so he can finish out his days in peace. Unfortunately for Dugar, the Universal Church of Truth reaches Knowhere as well, hoping to use the Continuum Cortex for their nefarious purposes. While the Guardians of the Galaxy manage to thwart the Church, Dugar's fate remains unknown.

Personality

In his texts, Dugar is shown to very frustrated about the behaviour of other Nova Corpsmen, believing them to be "high-and-mighty", irresponsible and disrespectful—they like to mess with him, per his own words—, leading him to question his joining the Corps.

Gameplay

Dugar doesn't appear in-game per se, only being mentioned as the author of four texts: Elevator A23, Memo: Suit Protocol, If Anyone Finds This..., and Knowhere Safe. The first three archives can be obtained while exploring the Rock in Chapter 5: Due or Die, whereas the last one must be collected during Chapter 12: Knowhere To Run.
