Cosmo is a supporting character in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. He is a Soviet space dog that gained psychic abilities during an incident that ultimately brought him to Knowhere. Cosmo currently serves as the station's Chief of Security, and keeps the peace with the help of a Korbinite security force.

Background

Cosmo is a former CCCP space dog who was used in the Soviet Space Program. The experiment Cosmo was part of, didn't work out as expected and so Cosmo drifted off from the intended course. Cosmic rays transformed him and developed his psionic powers and eventually, he arrived on Knowhere. He then became Chief of Security of Knowhere.

Gameplay

Cosmo is a non-playable in the game. Despite his powers, he falls under the influence of The Matriarch in Chapter 12: Knowhere To Run, and Peter must try to help him to regain his senses. If Peter is successful, Cosmo will help to fight The Converted in Chapter 14: Into The Fire.

COSMO

Cosmo was the first canine launched into orbit by Russia's Soviet Space Program (CCCP). His spacecraft was pulled away from Earth by an unknown cosmic anomaly. Hurled into deep space at impossible speeds and deposited near the edge of the galaxy. Cosmo found himself hyper-evolved by cosmic radiation. He could hear, and understand, distant thoughts in a hundred different languages. He used his newfound telekinesis to push his powerless vessel towards the cacophony in his head and found the Knowhere spaceport.

Now serving as Knowhere's Security Chief, Cosmo relies on his incredible psychic abilities to oversee one of the most diverse and bustling corners of deep space. Part research facility, part watering hole, Knowhere is a final port of call before the limitless Rift—a home for the aimless, the delinquent, and the inquisitive alike. And as if keeping watch over all that wasn't enough, Cosmo also has custody of a litter of five Russian space puppies, named Andrei, Leonid, Tatyana, Zinaida, and Chad.
