Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Wiki

Collector's Emporium is a location in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. Currently docked in Knowhere, the private collection belongs to Taneleer Tivan, also known as The Collector. It is open to the public, as long they can afford an entry ticket for 5000 .

Background[]

It is unknown how or when the Collector came to acquire his vessel or if it was simply always in his possession. Whatever the case, Tivan has traveled the universe purchasing the various rare and unique artifacts in it. It is currently docked in Knowhere.

Description[]

Although it doesn't look like it from either the inside or the outside, the Emporium is a building-tall starship that can take off whenever there is danger. Mostly covered by a white hull, the ship has a flat thin shape that resembles a fin, as well as two luminescent attachments of unknown function to the sides. It has a hologram projector, which shows the Collector's visage, above the entrance.

The entrance has a ticket booth, which has numerous entry tickets stuck on the glass and scattered all over the floor. Visitors are welcomed by Tivan Group Employee 66420047551, then walk to the right to pass by the gift shop, where a hologram of Tivan offers souvenirs kept in small tubular containers. Replicas of very rare items, and figures and effigies from lost civilizations are purported to be sold here; known objects include Little Meninges (2000 ), a blue crystal (50000 ), and a Ultimate Nullifier replica (15000 ). Upon purchase, buyers can choose silk gift-wrap. From there, a visitor may walk into the main exhibit room, a U-shaped gallery that leads right back to the ticket booth.

Tivan's main collection is comprised of twenty objects, placed inside triangle containers inside the wall or glass-like cases in the middle of the corridor, each with a description written by Tivan himself. All of these artifacts are secured in protective pocket realities created by the Cosmic Cube. The following exhibits can be found here:

Gameplay[]

During Chapter 6: Between a Rock and a Hard Place, the Emporium's Visor description reads: "The premier, premier, premier exhibit of wonders in the galaxy! Benevolently presented by Taneleer Tivan." Peter Quill either can pay 5000 at the entrance to receive a Collector's Emporium Ticket, or lose a little respect in front of his crew by singing with Lipless in Mantlo's Bar to obtain a free one. Besides this ticket, players can also obtain a Guardian Collectible called Collector's Emporium Doll. It costs 2000 to buy in the gift shop.

Another related item is the archive, Reply: Missing Persons Report, which can be found near the museum's previous spot, right next to the vending machines in Chapter 12: Knowhere To Run.

THE COLLECTOR'S EMPORIUM

A showcase for some of the most powerful weapons, artifacts, and beings in the galaxy, the Emporium is the personal collection of Taneleer Tivan, aka, The Collector. Tivan claims he is an Elder of the Universe, dutybound to preserve and protect items too dangerous, or too unique, to be allowed their freedom. His right to do so is often the subject of violent discussion.

The Collector's Emporium is currently stationed in Knowhere, where visitors can pay a modest ticket price to view his prized possessions. The collection poses no risk to Knowhere itself, as the pieces are not physically present in our reality, not since the theft of his precious Groot from Planet X.

COLLECTOR'S EMPORIUM TICKET

This ticket grants entry to the extravagant Collector's Emporium, which promises "a Collection of Curated Curios and Cultural Curiosities from across the Cosmos." It permits standard viewing access from one rotation. Guests are encouraged to sign up for a yearly membership, which includes unlimited access, two refreshments, and access to the interdimensional abomination petting zoo.

Trivia[]

  • The Collector's museum was meant to be a local building on Knowhere but Nicolas Lizotte pushed for it to be more of a travelling menagerie, perhaps with multiple holding-pods from which Tivan could choose his exhibitions. The design of the ship evolved from there, settling on a shape that was sympathetic to the exuberant hair he was testing on Tivan.[3]
  • During development, the team created a list of what easter eggs and references they'd like to see in the game that they sent to Marvel, who added suggestions of their own and took out others for an 'approved' list of potential references. All objects in the Emporium are from that list. The team wanted to have a good mix of 'easy' spots like Richard Rider's helmet, and more obscure references for hardcore fans.[1]
  • If the QR code on the Collector's Emporium Ticket is scanned, it reads the number 33012114842297.[4] The QR code appears to be identical to that of a ticket to ABBA The Museum.[5]
