Chapter 2: Busted is the second of sixteen chapters in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. Star-Lord and his crew are caught by the Nova Corps patrol ship Hala's Hope after leaving the Quarantine Zone.

Summary[]

For their illegal trespass into the Quarantine Zone, Star-Lord and the Guardians are brought into custody onto the Hala's Hope, which also happens to be run by Peter's old flame from 12 years ago, Centurion Ko-Rel. On their way to meet with Ko-Rel personally, they are escorted by Ko-Rel's 12-year old daughter, Cadet Nikki Gold. Cadet Gold is eager to talk to Peter, but before their conversation can go on too long, the docked ship of one Grand Unifier Raker explodes and sends Quill and Gold tumbling down into the bowels of the ship.

Quill saves Gold from perishing in the fall and the two bond before meeting up with Ko-Rel. Ko-Rel berates Nikki for meeting with the Guardians without her permission and violating the Nova Corps guideline and the player is prompted with the choice to either back Ko-Rel criticisms or defend Nikki. Either way, Ko-Rel sends Nikki away and informs Peter that the Guardians must pay the Nova Corps a fine of thousand of units within three days or lose their ship. She also avoids the topic of who Nikki's father is.

Outfits[]

  • Nova-Lord - Follow Nikki and help her to move a crate, then jump over some obstacles. While she walks on to the right, go straight to a gap under a pipe and enter the room behind, then move through a narrow corridor and reach another room. The crate with the costume is on the floor near other equipment.

Walkthrough[]

While the Guardians in the Milano's cockpit discuss the situation, after Ko-Rel appears on-screen, Drax comes in with a crate of illegal tech. and you will be confronted with a choice: "Hide the creature" OR "Hide the tech". If one decides to hide the animal, the fine they received in this chapter will be 7,000 (additionally, Kammy will make herself useful in Chapter 10: Test of Faith). Hiding Rocket's illegal tech is will be an 8,000 fine, and the Milano's weapon will be improved during a flight sequence during Chapter 9: Desperate Times. If Peter decides to hide nothing, the fine will be 9,000 .

During the sequence in which they are taken into custody and Cadet Gold arrives, the groups follows after. Peter then gets several dialogue choices: "Challenge Nova Corps", "Fall in line", or say nothing. Then, while talking to Nikki: "Clarify the 'Mom' thing", "Cast doubt", or stay silent. The short journey will interrupted by an exploding ship.

An action sequence follows, which forces the players to press a button (PS: , XB: ?, PC: E) in time, or Peter will fall down to his death. If done right, he will cling to the wing of a space ship. Nikki is on a platform under Peter, but it becomes unstable. Move Peter now with (PS: , XB: ?, PC: A) to the edge of the wing and he will drop down at some point. Another action event follows right away; press a reaction (PS: , XB: ?, PC: E) again, so Peter can hold on to the platform. Wait for Nikki to jump and then hit again the button again.

Follow Nikki, and help her to move obstacles. Peter can at some point ask to "Remove handcuffs", "Activate jet-boots", or stay silent. Move through the burning area, collecting Components on the way. While talking to Peter, Nikki will mention his teammates, giving him another choice: "Good news", "Bad news", or nothing. Help Nikki move obstacles. Another choice comes up to "Encourage her", "Take control", or remain silent. Players should reach here a place with a large yellow pipe to the left with a gap; let Peter crouch through under the pipe and pick up the Nova-Lord outfit.

Return to the other room and continue following Nikki. Upon reaching a tube, Nikki will unlock it to create a way. Move past her and go straight where the room seems to end; look around the next right corner and pick up some more Advanced Components. Return to Nikki. The conversation continues: "Empathize with Nikki", "Tell her to grow up", or nothing.

Move on with her to her secret lair, look in all possible corners for Components again. At some point, the two will resume their way and Peter again receives a choice about talking to Ko-Rel: "Put in a good word", "Saw nothing", or "(...)". After Nikki opens the door, Ko-Rel arrives. Following Ko-Rel and Nikki to the former's office, Peter can choose to "Back-pedal", "Stick up for Nikki", or neither.

The conversation that unfolds prepares Nikki to trust Peter, which may result in relinquishing her passkey, an item later that plays a part in Chapter 7: Canine Confusion. Ko-Rel is adamant to find out how Nikki could get past all security measures. The player thus get a number of choices: First, Peter can "Back up Ko-Rel", "Make a Joke", or "Re-activate elevator"; then he can "Side with Ko-Rel" or "Try to help Nikki"; and finally, step up for Nikki one last time or let her down by choosing "Tell Ko-Rel the truth", "Divert attention", or "Take the blame".

After Nikki is grounded, Peter follows Ko-Rel to her office, and Peter finds Chewie on her desk. Peter here can talk to Ko-Rel some more about Nikki, where he can choose to "Do the math" or "Ignore the math". He accepts the fine and returns to the Milano, to which a Nova Force Lock has been installed, to make new plans with the gang.

  • In Nikki's secret hideout, the players can find a reference to The Shining. Before Peter can sneaks into the room behind a half-open door, Nikki calls him out and close the door. The short peek is enough to recognise the famous carpet pattern[2] used for the interior of the film's Overlook Hotel. This room can be inspected more closely on Chapter 7.
